Yep, on H4 the filaments swap over when you go to high beam, rather than both coming on together. Coding both together with H4 is probably not a good idea due to excess heat as mentioned. Especially in a plastic headlamp!
Approval by who ?? I’m not under any warranty so don’t have to satisfy VW.Just because they are aftermarket doesn’t mean they can’t be road legal. Apparently they carry the E mark and are completely road legal in the uk. I’m sure not everything doesn’t have to carry the Vw logo to be legal ...
...it turned out that the passenger side dipped beam was off and I assumed blown bulb.
Next day I wanted to double check before replacing the H4bulbs so turned the engine on and moved the switch through each position to test and observed some odd results: (not 100% sure on the nomenclature...
I went for the H7's because I just wanted a better dipped beam. I know H4 have same 55w but my H4 with 200% Osram bulbs are still terrible, will the H7 beam be much better?
Really sorry to sound pessimistic it’s really not worth spending the money on bulbs for the h4’s I done it and learnt the hard way!
Save your money until your ready for an upgrade
I got myself the THQ V3 and fitted a HID bulb kit instead of the LED bulbs THQ supply.
I haven’t haven’t had one bit of trouble with mine.
Seen other people complain about the HID kits but mine has been faultless.
Not sure if THQ are doing the full LED headlights, but seen people go down that...
Morning,
I've recently had the headlights upgraded on my T6 to v3s, so have a pair of working H4's if anyone fancies them.
Off a 67 plate in decent condition with bulbs.
Collection from Chichester.
I've not taken them out on the road, yet. I will do that probably Monday evening to see how they look. I guess it's fair to say that super close to the garage looks terrible, but further away less so, maybe on a road they could be fine? Pipe dreams maybe.
Thankyou both for the replies, it's...

I recently purchased full LED headlight units to replace the factory headlights, which originally had H4bulbs. These new headlights are advertised as plug-and-play, but the seller mentioned that programming might be necessary for the high beam if the factory units used H4bulbs. To avoid any...
I bought this set of H4bulbs and there is a significant improvement, I will not change to H7 for now
OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER 200, H4, +200% more brightness, halogen headlight lamp, 64193NB200-HCB, 12V, Duo Box (2 lamps) [Energy Class A]...
They come with standard bulbs but missing the side light bulbs. One mark on the offside headlight, see photos. £25 for the pair, collection only from Gloucester.
Getting technical and bear in mind I have a T6 with H4 headlights but with the 6.1 factory LEDs VW did away with "travel mode" with the LHD/ RHD option having to be coded in rather than selected from the menu... is it possible you're on LHD mode and the reason so many Daily Express and Mail...
