Just a quick tip.....
Mine usually regens on average every 200 miles - give or take. I set the odometer as my regen countdown device.
When it is going through a regen sometimes the only way I know is that at traffic lights the rev counter goes up to 1000rpm. Usually it is about 950rpm. Not a lot...
Not true, mine will start even if the fuel is in the red area with less than 50 miles range left.
As an aside my van starts its regens at 24g. So there must be different software versions. Typing this the regen goes from 24g -> about 8g. That means it burns off a massive 16g of soot (16g ffs)...
...(T32 base) van next week. I’ve been warned about looking after the DPF filter and making sure I do a good run once a week so the van does a regen as I do lots of short journeys.
I’m paranoid about it starting a regen just as I get somewhere and not being able to turn the engine off, or...
Although this doesn't answer your question directly, and coming from someone who is a little paranoid about regens ...
What I do i is reset the odometer after I notice a regen has finished.
I know with my van that if I do lots of town driving the next regen is around 175miles, lots of motorway...
That will actually be due to the fact that during regen it holds the revs higher. You'll notices instead of being at 850rpm they sit between 1000 and 1100rpm so during regen it will take off a bit keener. Again not the gearbox it's down to the engine
mine doesn't start a regen untill around 130%, but also when it's finisehed it reads around 30% full, it regens around every 180 miles mainly local driving.
is there a way to reset it, as it seems out of sync?
Yes it'll give you all sorts of information and it'll ping at you when it starts the regen. Display shows a nice easy to understand %age as well so you know when it's about to do it.
Someone also mentioned making sure you have 3/4 tank of fuel - Again may be a red herring but worth a try.
I know the DPF regen requires a certain level of fuel to start the regen (IIRC about 1/4 tank)
...was rising twice speed as the soot mass calculated. Once soot mass measured hit 30g the soot mass calculated jumped from 14.55g to 30g and regen started.
When the regen was taking place the soot mass measured dropped quickly stopping at 4g whilst the soot mass calculated dropped steadily...
Just to mention, on the VAG DPF paid for App, my 'closer to 100%' before regenning was 130 something % when the regen cut in. Apparently there's an adjustment on the app, but I've not yet investigated fully. Well worth the £7+ I paid. Pieces of mind etc...
Couple of additions.
Mine regens after about 160 miles normal use. Longer if extended run on the motorway. I notice it on the motorways as the fuel consumption in the DIS drops about 5 mpg.
It will regen below 1/4 of a tank. It even starts in the red zone with the fuel light on.
Documented 🤨 ?
On T6 criteria to allow regen to start is fuel low light not on. I would expect running regen isn't stopped by fuel light but still haven't managed to time a regen to stretch over from no fuel light to fuel light on.
However, a few members have reported that the regen starts...
Yeah someone has already posted that the regen automatically stops after a period at idle unless it's almost done then starts again when the conditions are right.
