This is my van. 40mm lower springs than standard on 255/45/18 tyres on MoMo wheels. Would swamper tyres look good and also improve ride comfort? Would it make fuel consumption worse?

Yeah, I can see that's one of the standards. But it's the fact it's 2.5% smaller than my current setup that makes me second guess it all. Do I go with the standard, or a match of the diameters I have now?

255/45/18 is a standard size and pressures should be on your tyre pressure sticker. Pic of mine and a Cali one below:
