I had this problem with mine, I used it with a cable and it worked, then when I got a new phone it connected wirelessly no problem, so I think it was my old phone that was the problem.

I did have a wireless charging phone holder, but given that the essential functions are on the CarPlay screen, I'd rather just stash it above the glovebox. I have no need to touch or look at the phone

Android phone, has an SD card with many gigabytes of music, talking books, etc. Can be swapped from phone to phone as I inevitably break them.
