Hello all. This SOS module thing is a mystery to me. Recently plugged my Diagnostic Gizmo into OBD 11 port and ran some checks. Cleared a few old faults and then saw this message 'Emergency Call Module and Communication Unit. Backup battery-Service life critical.' So...I have a few queries...
Only things i can think of is as above the sos has activated or having an issue (assuming its a 6.1) or the alarm has gone off and the sounder is knackered so all your seeing is the visual alert
Hi
Have you had any joy with this please? I have similar issue and think the modem has stopped working, sos light is green but no satnav or database and a dynamic road sign fault so it only reads street signs, and can’t change profile that has always been guest
Same - Grey 2020 T6.1 SOS error happened three times so far. Had a safety recall for the Bowden Cable so when I booked it in I mentioned it. Even though my van is converted there was no issue. They checked it out, and have ordered a new control module to be fitted in three weeks, all under...
...with error messages on the radio display saying
Software update and No data connection. The update never completes.
I've also had an "Emergency SOS call Activated" message in instruments flash up for maybe half a second then dissapear
and nothing happens.
I have recently had a new...
...rear. I've found a 3m fakra extension, but what is it for? I've seen multiple fakra connectors in the wing mirrors so unsure of which aerial is which. If it's for SOS I won't bother relocate as it's disabled and just seal the hole.
But if it's for something else I'll move it.
Thanks in advance.
...I took the door card off today as well to see if the GPS Antenna in the wing mirror was connected to anything - seems it is, must be the SOS stuff so I'm going to leave it and just run the one that came with the Halo.
Had to do a bit of soldering for the Speed sensor wire and the Antenna...
That's great I'm just about to buy one I think! Do you have SOS I've heard you have to keep the original VW microphone wired into the loom as well as the kit microphone with this unit!?
I have just bought a T6.1. FM reception non existent, DAB intermittent, SOS error on dash.
I've removed passenger door card and mirror to find that the aerial wire that is earthed on the door passes into the bodywork but has been cut. When I opened up the mirror the rest of it isn't there...
AFAIK the DAB antenna in a 6.1 is in the wing mirror.
(Just checked, DAB/FM/GPS right mirror, FM left mirror according to wiring diagrams)
The shark fin unit on the roof is the 4G/LTE modem and comms for the SOS system et al.
...a T6.1 in Pure Grey picked up from the dealer two weeks ago.
Annoyingly, the day I picked up the van they told me there was a fault with the SOS button and some of them have been calling emergency services randomly, so they disabled it for me.
Whilst I'm not that bothered about the SOS...
