...off. I've tried covering the sensor up and still plays up.
Carista shows I have a 'backup battery:flat' fault. I'm curious to whether this could be an alarm backup battery? B1916F2 , but pretty sure this is related to the sos system.
If i double click the lock button it's fine.
Cheers
Tom
If this is your budget then maybe look at this-
https://dynavindirect.co.uk/select-your-car/9-inch-android-navigation-system-d9-333-pro-c-for-vw-t6-1-transporter/
We installed one for a customer who brought it to us, it retained the SOS and all vehicle settings/information etc
...Budget options include a dynavin or cheaper android based unit
Bit more complex and involved in the 6.1s with all of the factory integration on sos system, onboard settings shown through HU, reversing camera, and usb charge points etc but can be done if you get the right kit. If your...
...to a garage and they were talking about £130 investigation plus this and plus that, apparently in the past they've found the cause to be "something to do with the aerial in one of the wing mirrors"
It still makes the sos call so what exactly is the problem? Anyone ever find a solution to this?
...any pics of how the Halo 9 looks once fitted. I will eventually need to change my head unit out, as it plays silly buggers from time to time & the SOS keeps going off on pretty much every journey. I like the look of the Halo units, but the size (especially the Halo 11) is a bit of an issue...
Apologies is already covered, did a search but couldnt find anything.
I have fitted an aftermarket head unit to my T6.1.
This in turn stops the sos function working and caused a warning and light on the dash (i was made aware and told this can be coded out with Vagcom). I have a local garage...
With the integration of the SOS system, it's made replacing the factory infotainment system much more tricky.
There are kits out there now that can side step the SOS issue but the hole left when the system is removed isn't Double DIN so a fascia kit is also needed.
The short answer to...
It sounds to me more like the SOS fault for you is a symptom of something else going on in the electronics rather than a fault in the SOS system.
Do you have a fault code reader and are there any logged?
I wouldn't put too much weight on connectivity issues between phone and head unit, they...
One reason I bought T6.1 in version Beach is to have less electronic features that could go faulty. And here I am, getting the SOS Error Emergency Call Workshop error. Checking the price of repair - the amount is ridiculous. f*** Volkswagen. Car hasn't even 40 000km on it, 09/2020. I guess...
...and setting away from the touch screen on to the steering wheel controls, it’s clunky and graphically poor
When installing the Alpine we retain
sOS system
Vehicle info, settings on the touch screen
Oe microphone (again the Kenwood uses its own)
Factory parking graphics
Factory reverse...
Not on the van, but I had it numerous times on the Superb. If I held the SOS button in for 30 - 40 seconds, it started an SOS call, cancel that by pressing the button again and it reset itself. Eventually got Skoda to admit to an issue and put new software on though.
Just updating the post:
We took our van back to Skyline to investigate the SOS fault (aerial connection fault on diagnostics). They took a look at the extension cable & joins, and there were no issues they could see. They suggested replacing the aerial fin but don’t hold stock (they only move...
...the drive and practicality, but seem to have developed a quirk!
Infotainment unit is randomly restarting and today went off completely with the SOS Call Error contact workshop message
Threads on here and elsewhere seem to suggest a common issue and fixed with cable and unit swap out...
...installed and having issues with the DAB reception which is constantly dropping out now, where I had no issues at all with the original head unit.
Not had anything else changed or fitted, just the Halo 9 and the loom to connect to the VW set up to retain steering wheel, SOS, menus etc.
Any...
Welcome @AGfrom83
You've probably figured it out by now but the other is the primary LTE antenna used by the vans data/SOS system.
Technically it can still function in an emergency as there are secondary antennas but I suspect any data services will not until it's replaced.
