I don't think there's an unambiguous answer to this. EGR valve and cooler on/off switching are used to adjust intake air temperature - for example here's a 1h 15min drive in a freezing (average -4°C) temperature where EGR output temperature peaked at almost 300°C and even averaged at 200°C. The...
Perhaps first to verify that the EGR valve indeed doesn't move - see below

Then it's just the traditional way to test the wiring - a multimeter job.
Most likely if it is slow leak it is gasket, alternativly cheper to do EGR delete and blank on the air intake side, and problem should go away, This would be cheaper option, I paid 120 for egr delete and forget about egr issues
...I was the third person that called in morning with same fault and van so they know about it .
my vehicle had a complete replacement of the Egr valve and in 10.000miles it’s gone again .
THIS IS A MANUFACTURING FAULT .
ITS CAUSED ME A NIGHTMARE .
THE ONLY WAY IS TO TAKE THEM TO COURT AS VW...
...it seems that in CFCA engine data has different labels.
Thus the following data items (measurement values) need to be "ticked" for CFCA engine's EGR testing:
IDE00473 EGR Vacuum Regulator Solen.val.: activation
IDE00581 EGR specified value
IDE01259 EGR Solen.val.: actual value...
On the CFCA engines with the bi-turbo they had an EGR cooler that started to disintegrate with aluminium bits ending up in the engine, causing damage.
Hence getting the EGR removed.
Difficult to imagine how the above fault would have caused misfires.
Also the code is about EGR cooler preformance, not the EGR itself.
I believe the ECU simply monitors exhaust gas input and output temperatures (as there are sensors for those) so basically the ECU doesn't see cooling effect...
(VW T6, 2016, Euro 5) Hi, similar issues with the other EGR queries on the forum, decided best course of action is to swap out myself. After reading up and watching multiple videos on how to swap out the EGR valve I wanted to ask what have you done to the vehicle immediately after the fitting...
...all, we've got plenty of space). 1 litre of oil per 10k miles seems pretty normal.
2. In some unfortunate instances, there is an issue with the EGR design that means some abrasive combustion by-products in the exhaust gas are allowed back into the engine via the EGR and can score the...
When my egr was deleted, I eventually started to get adblue censor faults and the dreaded countdown.
I have read the adblue system can’t cope with the additional nox causing the eventual faults
Question; can egr and adblue be deleted while keeping the dpf in place?
Hi all
I replaced my inlet manifold last month and it wasn't a great job tbh. Anyway managed to do it and it is now blanked off and egr mapped out. It got blanked off after the egr, between the egr and inlet manifold so no more shit can enter the inlet manifold and cause any issues. So mpg not...
I have a 2016 T6 that I have had a nearly a year. It had the EGR previously replaced at 18000 miles by VW and is now just turned 40,000 and getting a high coolant loss 100ml in 12miles. Taken it to VW garage who said there is a massive internal coolant leak with the EGR and it needs replacing. I...
Did the EGR get replaced?
My money is on problems with that.
The EGR needed replaced on my T5.1 which gives the problems you described and after it died for the 3rd time I had it mapped out of the ecu and the vans never ran better since. That was a few years back.
Mine same a couple of weeks ago with service and MOT - failed for split EGR pipe - MOT description said putting exhaust fumes in cab - so I’m glad they spotted it - I thought it was just doing a regen as did a lot of them before as short journeys then a few longer - funny now does not do as many!
