I’m planning on getting my dpf professionally cleaned soon. Mileage 137k miles 204 biturbo Cxeb engine. Not based on any mechanical knowledge just the evidence that a blocked dpf will destroy the turbo, for me it seems a no brainer to spend £210 to prevent a £5k turbo bill.

You could look at the dpf for cuts that have been re-welded, particularly on the top of it (which will be difficult, use a small mirror) as obviously when it's done it is done in such a way to make it hard for an MOT tester to spot!

Where did you source the DPF? As far as I’m aware no smoke (soot) should get through the DPF.

Can the EGR be mapped out and the DPF left in operation?

I have egr delete with DPF and Ad Blue still in place. Been like that for 27 months and well over 20k miles with no issues.

The EGR/adblue delete is quite popular and the van will regen as normal. Personal experience is you'll have EGR/adblue issues before DPF issues but others may disagree Its 100% safe but like @Dellmassive rightly points out, it's also 100% illegal

Rubbish. Two years ago almost. EGR blocked and mapped out and at the same time new VW DPF, one year on the old engine and a year on the new one. I am getting between c125m and 250m between regens depending what I am up to
