My DSG side button seems to not pop back home when selecting reverse . Gear goes in fine it just takes a tiny pull of the level to get the button to sit home fully . Any ideas?

As Robert says, Unless you are reversing for a long time/distance (and uphill) I can't see why the DSG would get excessively hot compared with traveling at high speed forwards. Is the fan coming on while reversing as well?
