Hiya. I'm in the process of fitting a solar panel to my pop-top roof.
Does anyone know an appropriate IP68 glad that will fit in the existing tailgate holes at the rear of the van?
Thanks
They're the mounting positions for the tailgate versions and are quite commonly used for what you describe:

If anyone has the misfortune to have a failed solar panel and need to remove it from the roof .. I used a multi tool with a fine tooth blade which very quickly cut the sikaflex between the panel and the roof with no damage to the roof , as on my install I bonded the panel on the side edges and...
Partially disassembled it...
Oh and while I was there, started on the job of routing wiring through the roof for extra lights, leisure battery monitor, and solar cables.
6mm solar cables routed through the tailgate wiring boot, once I could find the hole into the main headlining area...
I really don’t want to fix panels to my roof so what are your thoughts on fixing a panel to the bike rack?
We don’t have any bikes so it is currently just a very expensive washing line and it occurred to me that I could fix a panel as per the picture.
The cabling is already in place as I have...
I think getting it wrapped is the long term solution. Some day I’ll need to replace the solar panel and so probably do it then I guess. I’m hoping that not going to be for a few years yet
Do you have barn doors or a tailgate? If barn doors, you can use the tailgate mount holes to get panel cables into the van.
MPPT Vs PWM is definitely worth it, they're about 30% more efficient.

A 100w panel, in bright sun...
The panel is waterproof. I sealed the front edge to avoid it lifting, and the back edge is open.
For barn doors, you can go in through the blank for the tailgate hinge. My cable run is at this link, and there are lots of other options on this thread...
T6.1, do not want to drill any holes in the roof. I see a few rubber gaskets along the rain gutter above the barn doors (where a tailgate would hinge I guess). These look ideal for cable routing from inside to the roof racks above for lighting, solar panel etc.. Is that what these gaskets are...
Tempted to get the roof painted or wrapped silver to match the van?
I've cut mine back and polished again with carnauba wax but realistically at some point the gel coat will go threadbare and chopped mat strands will start to show.
Our camper is chestnut brown but I did respray the tailgate...
Opened the tailgate with my CX bike on. Just about clears the solar panels. Not sure I’d do this often, or with more than one bike, but good to know it’s possible.
What leisure battery do you have?
The fact that it's only happening at night, means that the solar is increasing the surface voltage of the battery during the day so any voltage drops is from a higher level. It could be that your battery is on its way out.
If you can measure what the battery...
Hold up o_O on the non-poptop+tailgate t6, are we saying there are grommets you can use to pass solar cable inside keeping the roof from having new holes? I’m expecting someone to say these are only available/unused if you have a barn door
1. Solar Panels. Makes such a difference for weekends away. Not having to worry about the leisure battery 'running out' is a game changer.
2. Tailgate Bike Rack. Saves an age when taking bikes away. No need to get the towbar one from the garage and attach it. Also is a great clothes line when...
We looked at lots of converted vans, but in the end we bought a Candy White PV with barn doors. We then had it converted into a camper with the usual hob, sink and fridge. The pop top was manufactured by Austops.
We also specced a Evo bed on rails which has made the van so practical. We also...
