From what I remember there was corrosion in the aluminium EGR heat exchanger which created aluminium oxide, the very same substance that is used in many abrasive papers. Not surprisingly the cylinder bores / pistons were destroyed causing excessive oil consumption.

No ,replaced with 204

The T6 started on Euro 5 for the 180 bi turbo (like Mine) and euro 6 on the lower bhp then all on 6 soon after. No euro 4 that I am aware of .

My Euro 5 180 bi-tdi is brilliant. Economy is fantastic (top end 40's), drives superb even when towing. And even better mine has a manual box.

180 & 204 are bi turbo and both are different engines. All Euro 6 engines are ea288. The bi turbo ea288 is different for the single turbo variants. Also bi turbos are different sizes and in series with each other. Twin turbos are identical turbos on different manifolds.

Back to Revo HQ today for them to flash their slightly tweaked stage1 software to my ECU. Stock bi-tdi 180 gives 420 lb ft of torque at 1.8psi boost. Mine now delivers 490 lb ft at 1.9psi boost. Don’t know what they have tweaked over version 1 that I got a fortnight ago, but it is noticeable...

Do you know someone with VCDS to hand? mine was running a bit rough and when plugged in is said the camshaft sensor had a fault, VW changed both that and the MAF sensor and it seems less hesitant...still needs a remap though ...mines the 180 Bi

He's T32 DSG Bi turbo 180. I have to stop myself reading as more and more getting added to the list. Just read some more about the B14's and I am thinking maybe I'll hang on a bit and save for these, man I am going to be skint forever. Hope I don't get fed up with baked beans.......
