What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Keeping my '20 Startline oil level at half way up the cross hatching on the dipstick has worked for me for 18 months now. Asking my local VW indy to put half a litre less than a full oil change fill up has proved too difficult for them to comprehend though, it will be out with the siphon pump in...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Half way is right, it solved my issue. How long do you drive before the warning comes up again? Have you opened and closed the bonnet to temporarily clear it for 60 miles? Welcome to our friendly gathering by the way, don't forget it's the law to show us a pic of your new van!

Min To Max On Dipstick - how much oil?

I believe looking at other threads there is an issue on the 6.1 with oil expansion and that the advised level is now lower, so that could be the explanation? Post in thread 'Oil level too high warning… AGAIN' Oil level too high warning… AGAIN

[Resolved] T6 Oil level too high

I'm currently an hour into an 8 hour drive to Bognor from Glasgow and have just had "Oil Level Too High" warning flash up. Stopped at Gretna to check the forums for posts on this and unsure what to do now as there seems to be two possible issues. 1. Actual issue of too much oil caused by...

Oil Analysis shows high levels of Iron

Mates I regularly get engine oil analysed, and never really have an issue. Report has just come back form the T6. 2017, 204 (CXEB), 45K miles. Oil is 12 months, 7k miles old, TPS Quantum 5W40, high levels of iron; For comparison, my 140K mile old Cayenne 4.2 V8D came back at 29PPM iron. A...

T6.1 2020 CXHA failure to start

A quick post-script for follow-up reads including some observations that became clearer over the last couple of days. Although it all happened around the same time in my first post, there were two separate issues going on that need to be considered separately. 1) Simultaneous apparent loss of...

Oil Analysis shows high levels of Iron

Hi all, another T6 2017 BiTurbo owner here looking to see if those more knowledgable may be able to help me interpret my Miller test results please? My initial concern was due to increased oil consumption so I anticipated the dreaded EGR valve issue, but the aluminium levels look relatively...

Blue smoke out of exhaust at 2-3000rpm

Hi all, Just noticed some blue smoke at 2500 revs. Van had been sat idle for a few days and it was only on a 10 minute drive. Oil level seems fine. Could this be just to a couple of high revs when setting off and it needs a good run out? Got a big trip coming up next week so feel a bit anxious...

    T6.1 Reduce Oil warning

Thanks, we’re trying to wait til it cools slightly and see what dipstick shows. Think we’re going to have to call vw assist, don’t want to risk damaging anything with epic drive ahead!

T6.1 too much oil warning - how worried should I be?

Briefly, the software update and oil level check I had on mine, sorted out the issue. Get it to the dealership to sort out. It's under warranty so don't wait.

Looking for advice: Which ODB tool to choose?

6.1’s are well known for the ‘oil level too high’ error due to regens not being completed. I loosely watch mine get to 95% accumulation and then keep a closer eye on it once the regen takes place.

    - 204ps Bi-Turbo CXEB T6 Engine & Turbo problems -

DS exchange the turbo units I guess so surely a totally wrecked turbocharger is worth less than something that can be reconditioned?

    Which oil? 150PS diesel

Further to the discussion on the grade of oil recommended for the T6.1 the label in the engine bay of my van states 0w30 C3 grade, so did a bit more digging on the differences between C2, C3 etc. and concluded that C3 is better for a harder working van.......but not easy to find in 0w30. I...

    T6.1 Reduce Oil warning

When you say ‘the oil was fine before we left’ is that because you did a physical check of the level on the dipstick? Or is that an assumption because the reduce oil warning hadn’t come on? If it’s the first one then where has the extra oil volume come from in 1500 miles? If it’s the second one...

    6.1 Immobiliser/Battery Short Carista Codes

By way of update I've finally managed to get the van booked in to VW and they have identified that it is the oil level sensor that was causing the issue (incorrectly reporting high oil temp). I can only assume its a dual sensor for level and temp. No issues with warranty and replaced without...

T6.1 Reduce oil level and Oil dilution

Congrats on the new van! I don’t know all the answers to your questions but will help where I can… - my understanding is that the 60 mile thing is just a reset of the system everytime you open and close the bonet. It makes the van think you’ve ‘fixed’ the problem. Then after 60 miles of driving...

T6.1 too much oil warning - how worried should I be?

Hiya, I’ve just picked up a secondhand (2020) T6.1 Transporter from the VW dealership. About 60 miles in to having it (about 5 miles of city driving and 55miles of 60mph) the warning message came on for oil level too high. Sounds super similar, but would be good to understand if the update you...

Common issues to look for on test drive

In addition to the good points raised above, check the oil level, if the oil is high on the dipstick, i.e. over the maximum, this could indicate dpf problems and failed regenerations. It's unlikely to be low as the seller should have checked it prior to your visit.
