I noticed something recently with my mirrors, that I hadn't noticed in the previous 8000 miles I've done, and wondering if it's something I've done or missed, either when I stripped them to have them Gloss Blacked, or the amount of wax I put on my van! Anyway, they seem to be constantly soaking wet when it's raining. That might sound a bit daft, but as I drive I can see the water tracking under the mirror, then flicking across the glass, meaning they constantly need wiping to be able to actually use them.

The picture below was yesterday after about 50 miles, and although it might look like you can see, in reality they are quite obscured.

I get that and have to wipe the mirrors off every time I fill up. I just put it down to spray from the driving as it covers the back of my bus in crap too.

Its the way water runoff is and how water surface tension acts on panel edges and gaps. The water comes from the bonnet sides, over the pillar edge and under the mirror trim and skills out where there is air turbulence.....ie behind the mirror glass.

Mate, you are just the 'fountain' of all knowledge.

Any one tried this or similar

We use RainX in the business, and I use it on the van. It's a brilliant product if used correctly, but it does only last 3-4 days of rain.

Aerodynamics and fluid dynamics was a module in my car design degree. Water run off is equally as important as aero and its tricky with vans due to the vast rake of the bonnet and front window screen.
Its also why vans and very square cars get dirty on the back quickly because of the vortex producing low pressure at the back of the vehicle letting dust and crap swirls and collects there.

Very.....away on a training course in Warrington. Hotel is cr@p. So thought I'd open myself up to some abuse from you :) fire away.....

I've no idea what you mean.
I've only met you the once and I thought you were a thoroughly nice chap. A little rough around the edges, and a slight odour of Lama dung, but I quite liked it. Reminded me of being a child at the farm park feeding the caged animals.

Just as complementary as I remember. The weirdest part of that is during my period of bordem earlier I went for a haircut. The stylist described my hair as a bit lama like and asked if that was the look I wanted. I didn't think anything of it until you mentioned it. Now I'm off to smell my pits and correct my hair with pond water.
