Well as the title, who still has one of these. Fuel Ration Book. Still have it in my folder for vehicle details.
Issued in 1973 during the Oil Crises when the Opec Arab countries put an embargo on fuel for countries who supported the Isralies during their Yom Kipur war with the Arabs.
I had an Austin 1100 at the time for which the ration book was issued. Never got to use it as it all blew over and fuel supplies got back to normal.
I can also remember they introduced a 50mph speed limit on the motor way, not that the Austin would go much faster.
The A series engine was a doddle to work on and I must have stripped it down a few times over the years.
The SU carbs where also easy to clean and fit with new parts. I was luck to have a refurb specialist near by who had all you wanted for SU and Webber Carbs.
