Which heater

Hi all, just wondering how you all heat you vans when parked up? Mine doesn’t have a diesel heater so weighing up whether to get one or just use a plug in fan heater? My bro in law just lights the gas hob for a few mins to get the chill off in his van. I more than likely won’t be overnighting in freezing temps and don’t like heating on when sleeping so it’s just for having a quick warm up in the evenings and mornings.

Used to take a small electric oil rad, 600w

But that only worked with EHU, it killed any type of battery I used.

But ultimately I gave in and got a Diesel heater fitted..... The best thing we ever done if you plan on using the van outside the sumer months.

You can get a Auto term supplied and fitted for under £1k.

I have an auto therm diesel heater. Had it fitted by them near Wrexham.

Drove there slept in the cold van ready for fitment the following morning.
Used it a few times and it’s a game changer. So much nicer being warm.

Not yet in this vehicle but for many years used a Wallas Double Hotplate/Blower Room Heater. Cooked all our food and when the lid was closed it operated a thermo electric switch that turned on the 12volt fans in the lid to keep the inside like toast even in extremely cold weather on the low setting. Ours lasted for years never needing any attention at all yet was often on the go. The fumes where vented by a flue to the outside. It operated in a similar way to the diesel heaters today the Webasto / Eberspacer ect but was obviously more versatile. Used little fuel and it would run for long periods on the vehicles main battery.
