What's it worth? 2017 Highline 204 LWB DSG Converted

I have a 2017 T6 I'm sadly looking to part ways with due to lack of use, though have no idea what it's worth!

It's a highline, top spec from factory with T32, 204, LWB, DSG with ~66k miles and has had about £22k spent converting it to high spec also (between me and the previous owner).

It has full service history and it's a fantastic van all round. Brakes and tyres have plenty of life left in them. MOT until October; last MOT had 1 advisory on one of the rear lights which was replaced under warranty (still under VW all-in warranty/service plan until Nov 2025, which I believe is transferrable).

It's great spec, both standard spec (heated captain seats, cruise control, comfort dash etc) and mods (insulated, carpeted, cali rear bench/bed, HiLo pop top, diesel heater, EHU/leisure battery etc). Along with B16 coilovers and BBS wheels.

The only parts I've not got round to finishing are trimming the seats (which I’ll now leave as the new owner may have different taste to me) and fitting a multiflex board for the bed (though have a reasonable “temporary” solution so it’s perfectly usable).

I don't have a decent set of pictures but I've added a handful for now to give and idea, I'll clean it up and take lots soon.

I'm writing up a full advert but stuck on where to price it! Can anyone help, please?

I would get a price from wbav for the base vehicle , then add 15%.
Add half of the value of your mods
22k --->11k.
That would be ball park in my book

Thanks for the replies.

I was hoping it'd be a little more than these as when I was searching, DSG and LWB commanded a reasonable premium alone. Same goes with the extended warranty etc.

I guess they're worth what someone's willing to pay at the end of the day.

Being a 204 and it's potential for big bills knocks it down a fair bit
That's subjective as it's been looked after and had the EGR replaced as a preventative measure.

When I did an extensive search before buying it, the 204's still held a premium so I'm not sure why that'd change.

I'll get round to putting an advert up soon and see 😁

Its hardly subjective if one needs to otherwise needlessly swap out engine components to avoid the problem.

None
Are there any verified statistics that show that the 204 is any more problematic than any other variant. Or is it just internet here say?
None @ all —-easy to cherry pick doom from any manufacturer ,no one low balls transit & wet belt
204 dsg is the configuration I would choose any day ..

Maybe he fell victim to the paranoia. I had my oil tested by Millers at 60k miles. Came back normal. It’s the first time I’ve ever had an oil test done, and the only reason; I was sucked into the doom & gloom on here.

Begs the question, what would your view have been on the doomongers had the oil result been otherwise ?

That I’d been unlucky. It would be irrational to reach a conclusion that the 204 is a duff engine based on one sample. As I alluded to earlier, without any meaningful figures, e.g. MTBF or failures/X number of units, then all we have is internet gossip. There are examples on here of engine failures across all variants, but I have seen absolutely no empirical evidence that the 204 is any better or worse than any other. 🤷‍♂️

Right...

I understand that some people don't want a bi-turbo. Others (including myself) love them. Remember, there are always more horror stories online as no one comes online "just" to talk about how reliable their vans are.

I'm sure it's a great debate on here just like apple vs android but this isn't the thread for it.

Thanks for the relevant contributions but that's enough on this topic.

So last summer I bought my T6.1 LWB 2020 150 DSG Highline with fVWsh, LED lights/cruise/AC/tailgate, fully converted with Reimo poptop, RIB 112 bed, Clayton LPS/EHU from new as a camper, had 28K miles on it. Bought from a private buyer. I added a £40pm 2 year warranty and service plan from VW. Also came with various extras like towbar fitted, Vango awning. It did have a rear dented bumper (£70 replacement from FB marketplace) and a very small dent in the door.
All in it cost me about £35K including the 2 year warranty/service plan. I'd probably get my money back if I sold it on this summer.

Book value of the base van when I bought it was £30K trade sale value (value based on confused.com app). Cost of Reimo roof/RIB bed/Clayton/kitchen/base conversion would be about £12-14K excl. labour.

So a base van price plus half of the cost of conversion seems about right, at least for mine.
