What have I got?

Hello....whoever's out there?..... I'm new to the world of T6 and a little uncertain what I'm going to encounter as I develop my van, just researching at the mo..... So, my question. The van I have is a 16 plate 102 highline Euro 5 (no adblue) Now, I will want a leisure battery system at some stage but from what I've read so far, this doesn't come without complications if you have certain models of vehicle. My current assumption is that the age/spec of my van means it should be an easier install than more recent models, am I correct?

Ta in advance...

Sounds like the same spec as mine. You just need a decent B2B charger, not a voltage sensitive relay. Connection is really no more complicated.

Pete

Thanks Pete, I was hoping it wasn't going to be as complicated as some of the stuff I've been reading....

In respect of charging a leisure battery from your starter battery, all T6’s are the same.
It gets a little more complicated with solar.

Pete

As @Pete C stated, you cannot use a relay to charge your leisure battery as may have been the case before stop/start technology and the vehicle battery only ever really reaching 70-80% charge from the alternator.

Read up on the forum, use the search facility to aid your knowledge on batteries. There is a chap on here who is well used and respected in T6 electrics, he has a website and can sell you all the bits you need and offer T6 bespoke advice on what and where everything should go.
@travelvolts

Another knowledgeable chap on pretty much everything is @Dellmassive watch some of his videos for help & tips.

Best of luck and enjoy.

Ta very much....it's all a voyage of discovery....a lot has changed in the fifteen years since I was in the trade..!

Hello @Bruntonpasty ,that's a Carlisle name if ever i've heard one. So you got yourself a money pit lol. You will find answers for just about everything you can think of on here, they're a helpful bunch. As @$immo said, tell Martyn @travelvolts exactly what it is that you want to do and he will advise and if needed, supply everything you need to do anything electrical in a kit with everything included to do the job properly,he's a top bloke as is @Dellmassive ,who seems to just about know everything about electrics, you will be in good hands with those two, good luck

Haha, yeah, although I'm not from the border city, I am one of the hardy, long suffering few who visit the Theatre of screams that is BP!!! In fact, it's worse than that.......long time season ticket holder......

A money pit ya say? Hmmmmm? We'll see.....she has to a work vehicle primarily but quickly clean-outable and then used for camping weekends at the Superbikes. The modifications need to be practical but some comfort would be nice!

Good to know there's other members/folks up here in god's country, I actually live out in the sticks nearer Penrith than Carlisle but worked up there for about ten years before a career change and self employment..

Wow,a season ticket holder at Brunton Park, you must be a glutton for punishment lol. I'm sure you will enjoy modifying the van and getting the most out of it. As you are going to be using it for camping etc then the leisure battery/electrics etc is definitely the place to start. It was more or less the first thing i done with mine and as i said,Martyn @travelvolts sorted all the eqipment out for me except the solar panel which i had already sourced elsewhere. Good luck
