What are these bits on the dash ?

What are these two lumps of plastic for ?
They seem to serve no purpose but wondering if they do something on a different model, anyone enlighten me ?

Proximity sensors for the touchscreen, I reckon.

They were there on the 5.1 aswell .
I think they are just fixings
Don't think they are sensors or thermostat ,as there is one in the drivers side heater vent .

As carlg says they're nothing of any importance, they've fitted to all models of VW with that heating console.

@DaveBos the proximity sensor for the head unit is mounted along the bottom of the head unit itself

They are actually infrared heat sensors to measure how much the sun is heating up the cab so that the climate control can compensate.
