Good morning All,
I am going to sell my 2019 (68 plate) Caravelle Exec with 24k miles, electric tailgate and reversing camera fitted. WBAC have a starting offer of £29865. Is it worth just taking their offer or holding out for more privately with the hassle that involves. Comments welcome particularly from those who have sold recently. I am based in Scotland near Inverness.

They won't offer you that price when you actually get there, never do.
I am aware of that, their start price is for bodywork in pristine condition on a scale of 1 to 7, best to worst, mine would be a 2 so expect to be offered £300 to £500 less. They have increased their offer price by £700 over the last week so I guess they would be aiming for around the £29200 area. Autotrader retail prices are all over the place and realistically I would expect £4k to £6k less privately. Or am I being optomistic

I don’t think you will get my anything near their offer. I took a golf estate to them that they had offered nearly £1000 for it knowing it had no MOT and some cosmetic damage. This was all disclosed on the online “quote”. Once there they did their usual BS routine claiming they didn’t know that it had no MOT and could only offer £200. Sold it privately in the end. Absolute joke of a company.

To be fair I’ve sold 2 cars to them in the past and on both occasions came away with more than first offer always worth the visit for final valuation

I’ve sold two cars to WBAC, merc and a Skoda vrs and they were both fair prices tbh.
It’s a lot less hassle than dealing with a plethora of tyre kickers.
On both occasions I got within £100 of what the online offer was.

Have you tried Motorway ?
Sold my last car to them and got a fair chunk more than WBAC....
I got an offer from them too withing £100 of WBAC and a lot more hassle with photos etc.

I sold a Smart Fortwo to WBAC and the guy was honest and fair , no knocking money off here and there. Took about 15 minutes - I must admit I paid the £30 to get an immediate transfer in case they pulled out of the deal

I appreciate the advice on WBAC and Motorway but does anybody have any ideas if the price offered is reasonable

Have a look through the vans for sale thread on here - I see there is a 2018 Caravelle. I’m less invested in doing the research as I’m not buying or selling.

Parker’s says £24,720 - £25,510 and that doesn’t allow for the lower mileage. Just for a price I chose the 150 dsg. So WBAC appears a pretty good price

Haha me too, on both occasions 🤣

But surely the price is only relevant to yourself.
Its your van that you are selling g.
You have the offer ,
Presumably you know what you paid for it AND how much you would like for it.

If its acceptable to you, then it must be a fair price.

I'd say it's a good price. I sold mine in 2023 for £32ish (probably too cheap at the time.)

Being where you are will narrow the private sale market too, as it's a long way for many potential buyers to come and see it. WBAC seems a good shout. Go and see them and if they try to knock you down, you can always walk away.

My thoughts exactly seems a fair price!
I wouldn’t expect much more privately and is it worth the hassle🤷‍♂️

The longer you leave WBAC the more they offer you. Leave it another 4 weeks.
With motorway all you need is 2 traders fighting over it at auction it’s more of a gamble.
I’ve sold to both in the past. I’d choose motorway over WBAC
