Water Heater.......... or Not?

Just having a van converted and wondered what if anything people do for hot water? Do you have water heaters built in or boil the kettle?

For showers and laundry I use a Swedish army surplus stainless steel pot on my Wallas. It takes about 25 minutes to heat enough cold water for two decent showers.
It’s not instant but about the same time it takes to put my shower tent up, grab some clean clothes and crack a couple of beers.
If I‘m eating a meal I know the washing up will follow!! BoiIing the kettle while eating is a bit of a no brainer.
Instant isn’t a necessity by a long shot.
We don’t carry the lid about and the handles are not required.

I just boil the kettle... I considered a water heater... but was put off due to the fact of losing more cupboard space and when the convertor worked out the power requirements it was the equivalent to powering 8 fridge freezers.... so only really suitable for EHU

99% of my camping is wild camping so it wasn't suitable for me

I have a gas water heater - pointless having electric when you are not using campsites . Does my shower and sink. Fitted under nearside rear seat which isn't easily accessed space for storage purposes.

We will probably go down the kettle route. Anticipate that it’s likely we will end up staying on sites with shower facilities (at least every couple of days). Thanks again

I've got the Webasto ThermoTop Evo which runs off the vehicle's diesel and gives me hot water as well as heating. Not the cheapest option admittedly, but it works well. I have a shower attachment at the rear so I can hose down the dog/wife or stick it down my wetsuit when I get out of the sea!

Any reason why you went for a Thermo Top rather than a Dual Top other than physical size? Just interested.
