I’m selling a removable kitchen and bed setup that I originally designed and built for my VW T6.

At the time, I used my van for work during the week, so I needed something that could be fitted for weekends away and then removed again when I needed the van empty. I would take out the rear Transporter seats and put this setup in. It is quite substantial, so fitting and removing it is definitely a two-person job.

The kitchen sits across the rear of the van and is accessed through the tailgate. The cooking section slides out from the main unit and locks into place, giving you a proper usable kitchen outside the back of the van.

It includes:
  • Dometic two-burner hob and sink
  • Campingaz regulator setup
  • Flojet electric water pump
  • Fresh-water container
  • Waste-water container
  • Cupboards beneath the sink
  • LED interior cupboard lighting
  • Electrical switches for the pump and lighting
  • Worktop and storage space
  • Powered by a small portable 12V SUP battery/charger
I also have a video showing the tap and water pump working.

The pump and cupboard lights are powered by a small portable 12V SUP battery/charger, so the unit does not need to be permanently connected to the van’s electrical system.

The rear kitchen connects to a separate cupboard and seating unit further forward in the van. The sections slide and lower to create a bed platform measuring approximately 190 cm long × 120 cm wide, with a height of around 42.5 cm. It works on a similar principle to a rock-and-roll bed, although it is a removable wooden storage and sleeping system rather than a conventional crash-tested travelling seat.

The seat gives somewhere to sit during the day and then forms part of the sleeping area at night. Please note that it was designed as camping furniture and storage, not as a crash-tested travelling seat, there are no seat belts.

I secured the setup using the van’s original rear tie-down points, bolting the kitchen into the floor, together with ratchet straps. Any buyer would need to check the fixing arrangement and make sure it is suitable and secure in their own van.

It was a personal project and was never completely finished. I had intended to add drawers to the open sections at the front but never got around to making them. It works as it is and I travelled europe last summer, but it would be a nice project for someone who wants to finish it off, alter the storage or personalise it to suit their van.

I have recently had my van professionally converted because I no longer need it for work and my wife wanted a pop-top, so this setup is now taking up space.

£495, open to sensible offers.

I also have the mattress and two homemade window blinds available for an additional £50. We used the mattress to cushion the seat during the day.
