VW Discovery Media Carplay Activation

Hi All,

Thanks for letting me join the forum!

I recently picked up a my new (to me, obviously) T6. It has the Discovery Media PQ headunit installed (5C0035680G) but the carplay function was not activated at the dealership when new. Does anyone have any experience with retrospectively activating this function without having to visit my local VW garage?

I had our Touran's activated recently, not by VW. 75 quid Vs 250 at VW ...

You can activate yourself for free. Google mib helper and you'll see. May need new usb port for iPhone, android should work.

Just completed it on my head unit, works as expected. Everything on video below. Before that, I used my VCDS to activate the hidden menu ( GEM : Green Engineering Menu).

Be interested to know what file set you used, I'm a bit confused about CP OFF and CID off and what one I need.

I picked the latest one so the V1.4.2. here: Releases · olli991/mib-std2-pq-zr-toolbox
what does CP and CID mean ? French folk here LOL.

What is your current config installed ? should look like MST2-EU-VW-xx-P0xxxT - press 15s or so the MENU button to access that info.

Mines all done now - turned out to be way easier than I thought.

I got an ottocast cube for christmas... excellent bit of kit. quick to connect and its fit and forget. More reliable than the OEM wireless carplay I had in my 2021 passat.

Ottocast went in and plays faultlessly - I had an ABS sensor fail so connected Carista and its now moaning that the head unit has an error code since the Carplay update.
Its working fine though.

Mine has the exact same thing, only know it's there if you go looking for it though. I find that I get an extra fault if I read the codes whilst my phone is connected too...

Same here. It had CarPlay when I bought the van from previous owner, so no idea whether new head unit or CarPlay just added but not by dealer.

Whilst I would like to resolve it, there’s no issue other than the error message.
