Vibrations Through Steering Wheel

Had b14s fitted about two months ago but have got an annoying vibration and wobble through the steering wheel at 65mph plus. Had the wheels laser aligned done after the b14s were fitted and had new tyres fitted and balanced , and it hasn't eradicated it. Is this to be expected with b14s or is there something i am missing here?

sounds like tyre/wheel balancing to me,

can you drive through it? . . . . ie does it go away above 75mph?

alloys or have you wheel trims?

if alloys, a buckled rim?

had new tyres fitted before the problem started?

is the vibration most noticeable from the the front/steering wheel,

or

from the rear/body?

try swapping the front & rear wheels to see if it moves?

Suspension/ride height/ARB shouldn't cause this symptom.

All day long for me it was wheel balancing, but after alignment and balancing twice, it just hasn't gone away. Trouble is i got new alloys, b14s, new tyres all within a short time and can't remember when the problem started. Really don't think it is the b14s. Definitely coming from the front. Good suggestion to swap wheels. I cant drive through it either just stays with me. I'm now wondering if its a buckled rim, even though i haven't knocked it.

hmm, bucked rims normally show themselves on the tyre balance machine, but you have to look closely as the wheel when its spinning fast on the machine.

sometimes difficult if the large saftey guard is covering the wheel when its moving . . . . .

try a wheel rotation first, - front to back swap.

maybe try swapping one wheel at a time with your spare.?

or try a different set of wheels if you have them? . . . . . ie winter/summer wheel sets.?

maybe get a cheap set of 4 wheels . . . . or just two. front/rear axle pairs to narrow down the source of the vibration.

driveshafts, are also possible if they have something wrapped around them . . . .

and as mentioned above, warped disc rotors . . . . . . though thats normally more evident under braking.

Yeah its a long shot on the rims, they were brand new. Gonna try switching the wheels front and back though. Thanks Dell

Hi did you ever resolve this issue? I have exactly the same after putting on new alloys and lowering van. Just had wheels aligned and they came with tyres balanced. Thanks in advance

Hi, sorry haven't been on here much lately. Yes i did get it sorted. I eventually had the wheels re-alligned. It turns out that when you lower the van the wheels then go out of alignment because they are not sitting as factory levels. Have look on the forum for wheel alignment, because you have to request a no load in the garage due to the computer doing the re-allignment automatically adjust to factory standards not the new levels. Don't know if that makes sense but there are a few posts on it from guys in the know.
