After getting feedback from the forum via - [T6] Glove Box Comfort Dash Choice To Make - Matte or Gloss Black - Vote ?

I have just installed a matte black Van-x comfort dash; and while it looks good, and it has an OK feel/texture to it - my overall opinion is sadly one of disappointment…..

For what’s fundamentally a shaped plastic box, with a swing lid - the door (lid) is very flimsy, it seems to mark easily from fingers and it can be very hit and miss where you press it to open it up (and even then, it’s only open up a crack, you then have to get the tip of your finger under it..

Yet it could have been some much more. I’d like to have seen a more solid feel/ thickness to the front plastic, some sort of mechanism/spring to pop it out further when being opened, and then when it is opened up, some type of latch that would allow it to stay up if you wanted it to ..

For approx £165, I’ll anticipate materials/manufacturing etc., would place it’s cost (at volume) at around the £35 - obviously that’s complete speculation on my part, plus there are other costs and profit to be made, by any company - which I get) - I just can’t help but feel like it lacks that quality feel, which adds to the feeling that it’s overpriced..

I’m not sure if the gloss black version is different, although it seems you get matching vents with that (nothing with the matte version).

How have others who have one - found it ?

Thanks for that, think that’s just made up my mind to not bother, and saved me wasting a few quid .

Too long don't read. In a nutshell - don't buy the dash top cover from van x

I have just installed the dash top lid from van x. It's not amazing. I'm really confused with the design. It's not designed to clip in to the existing holes with the OEM retaining clips that hold the original back fascia in so firmly. You have to take the metal clips out of the dash and the protrusions on the lid base are essentially just to locate the unit. The two end oem clips aren't to be removed but when I have gently and cautiously tried to install into these clips the bloomin van x tabs for that location dont seat well at all and after I've tried to manipulate them in to the extent of using brut strength, it's pushed the metal oem clips through, into the dash cavity underneath, never to be seen again.

I held it in place to screw it on with the provided screws. Too tightly screwed and the front of the lid hovers over the dash. Too loose and the hinge section raises up and rattles when driving.

I tried some 3m tape strategically in all places of contact but no use. The dash cargo cover needs designing so as to clip in where the original trim clips are and there needs to be a way to adjust and fine tune the unit once in place.

Am sending it back.

I have the comfort dash glovebox upgrade also... i dont thing I'm going to bother with that either. The idea of a glove box cover isn't new. The cost of this unit vs quality and basic design doesn't make sense to me.

I fitted one. As described above the design seems odd with plastic legs just resting in holes, relying on 2 screws to hold the lid on.

The fit seemed better allowing the lid to close if you remove the 5 metal clips from your dash not just the three in the middle.

Also had to repair the plastic legs the screws went through with super glued and metal washers as the plastic was looking like it was going to break.

Anyway fitted as seen, seems secure both fitting wise and visually.

Going to get the rubber insert to provide a cleaner and quiet storage area.

Hope this helps someone.
