Van respray degrading "clouding"?

Hello - we had our black T6 resprayed to Ascot Grey back in 2022. All looked great at the time, but this year we've noticed the paint degrading/forming a clouding effect on many areas of the drivers side (see pics). I took it back to the company that originally sprayed it and they said it just needs waxing by them, but something in my gut says that can't be the issue as the passenger side is fine.

I'm assuming it's actually being caused by something not being done correctly on the original respray.

Does anyone have any knowledge about this, as my painting knowledge doesn't go much further than gloss painting skirting boards.

Thanks in advance.
Michael

I am no expert but that looks like it needs a good colour sanding as it's not very flat.
From the pictures I would say the original paint was not put on smoothly resulting in the orange peel you can see. They should have sanded it smooth and then polished it up........I am sure somebody on here with more knowledge than me will be along soon.

Thanks - I read something about orange peel on here before

I too am no expert, but I’d concur. Obviously easier to see ‘in the flesh’ but I’d say that the high spots on the ‘orange peel’ have visually lost their gloss. It will need flattening and polishing, however, depending on thickness of lacquer and paint depends how far they can go. I’d perhaps advise taking it to a reputable detailer with in house facilities who can measure the paint depth and advise. No disrespect to your sprayer, but I’ve often found that a Detailer will be more adept at paint correction. (Obviously there are exceptions). I see you are Hampshire. I can highly recommend ‘Konings Detailing’ at Winchester. He will give you an honest opinion and advise you .

Thanks Vinyl1210 - I'm based outside Bristol down the M5, so do you know anyone in my area I could speak to?

Ahh. My bad. Realised I clicked on Bubbadubba and he/she is Hampshire. 🤦‍♂️. I’d just do a google for Detailers near you and go and see one. 👍
