Van Furniture Vs Dirty Rock

Apologies, I may have posted this in the wrong area originally. I am currently converting a SWB T6.1 and had pretty much decided to go with Van Furniture's U-shaped set-up. However at CamperMart this weekend I visited the stand of Dirty Rock and was quite impressed with the products they had on offer. I was just wondering if people had any thoughts on their relative experiences of each product. I realise no-one would be in a position to make a direct comparison but any thoughts would be welcome.

i visited the dirty rock stand and was taken by the pop up TV gadgett thing but on reflection wonderd how long it would last? my money is going to be with Cymru Camper Furniture as i fancy the U shape but still want to be able to get out of the rear doors.

Had the same thoughts re: the TV gadget but the range of finishes seemed to be a bit more..... Well... polished for want of a better word. Never really had a proper look at the Cymru Campers products, as the display was in a trailer and it was quite crowded when I passed by. Plus I think their choice of cushion covers didn't draw me in, which is a bit daft I know.

Worth noting that Van furniture do a unit that leaves the middle free too, although i feel like the crmyu offering does look nicer IMO. The van furniture version also has bed supports running all the way along the inside of both pods, meaning you have to go with a floor fixed table rather than one of the swivel tables. £400 difference between the two though!

I must admit, leaving that middle bit free seems a great idea as I wasn't planning on a pop top for now so getting in and out of the back makes a great deal of sense. Although the downside is losing some storage? Floor mounted table is fine I think. Just need to make my mind up quickly!!

Haha I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm sure they all do a box that can be pulled out so you don't loose any storage but still keep the ability to walk through, throw in bikes and anything long.

FYI Crmyu currently have a roughly 10 week build time

Better make my mind up quickly then as I am hoping to be travelling to Ireland in July, as things stand that would be with an air bed. Thanks for the suggestion though, it's given me some decent options.

Agreed ,Cymru stuff is a bit pricey,£348 for a plywood 'Buddy"box seems a rip off, but on balance everything nowadays is double dear. i had a look at a camper outside in the car park, it was a baby blue colour T5 that had just had a Cymru set up fitted last week and i have to say it looked very nice, The upholstery was top quality ,in fact it all looked excellent.

Chris, There is a girl on Instagram that makes cushions to order,i may well go with her for my upholstery although there's nothing to be gained on my part as the prices would be around the same. her instagram page is custom textiles cymru, she can even do car seat covers to match if thats up your street.

Cheers for that Kev, and thanks for the idea. My only dilemma now is that I'd better make my mind up what I want to do with electrics before installing anything!! Who said this would be easy!!

Hi again Chris,The Guy with the blue van had a Aferiy P280 portable power station, he had it hooked up to a dc-dc charger and it charged from the alternator, he ran an air fryer for cooking from it,and his internal lighting,240v sockets,i've had a read up on them there is an imput for solar also on the box , this would save having to buy a separate inverter and all the trouble of wiring everything up, there's still a bit to do but it'd be handy to be able to remove it in the winter when i'm not using the van. has a built in bluetooth connection and phone app to monitor cell condition/charge etc. a really good product! well worth considering, it's never been a better time to build a van, there's an unbelieveable amount of handy tech out there.

Hi Kev, This is an area where I have no clue whatsoever. I should have asked a few more questions on Sunday. I should have taken some pictures of the stand where it was all set out on a board. Any advice therefore, is very gratefully received.

I am also currently looking at Dirty Rock u shape interiors, I have visited their workshop and was impressed with the quality. I have seen the van furniture set up in a family members van and feel that the dirty rock interior is much better quality but it is a bit more expensive. They will also make changes to their basic design as I am probably going to order without the overhead locker and add in a drawer under the bed that you access from the sliding door.
