Trim Clips and carpeted panels

Having spent the past 2 days swearing at trying to fit my carpeted panels (3.6mm ply) to my carpeted metalwork, does anyone have a recommendation for a better trim clips than your standard "longer trim clips" available on Amazon etc. They just are not long enough! Even with the big hammer I can't get them on properly.

I've used the hidden ones and they are ok with 3.6mm ply.

The first batch I bought were much better than the second batch weirdly.

We used hidden trim clips aswell with no issues  .
The roof lining was a different story and bought a couple of different sorts for that cuz the first lot were garbage!

I am adding some additional panelling in my t6.1 van, so need a pile more clips.

Is the hole size for panels different between the T5/T6 and the T6.1 ?
Looking on the parts catalogue they should be the same - 7H0867299

However there is no way I can fit 8mm clips in my T6.1 as the hole size is only around 7.6mm. The existing clips work fine, and are less tahn 7.5mm

Hi bud. Did you find any longer "longer Trim clips"? Same issues for me and about 25% of the holes. Cheers.

Think I just replied to your thread on this but here is some more detail.

I used hidden trim clips for all my 3.6mm carpeted ply.

Then to attach a uncarpeted 3.6mm ply panel to my roof I used these clips. Although they don't fit the 2 middle rear holes which use the black block spacer things as they are too long.

Then for my 6mm ply sheet (on rear quarter currently un carpeted) I'm using these grey ones which feels better quality than the black ones.

I think i need to measure the ones im using as theres very few with measurements advertised. There's nothing simple ! Cheers though.

I had the exact same issue mate, but found a solution that worked 99% of the time. I found that I had to cut away a bit of the carpet from both the panel and the metal work that surrounded the clip; this reduced the amount of "stuff" between them which seemed to be stopping the clip from being fully inserted. I've included a photo below, hope that shows what I mean. Occasionally a clip broke off the back of excessive hammering but it worked almost every time. From memory my panels were the original grey ones that came with the van, so likely 3.6mm, but either way, this method definitely helped.
