Just got the trailer harness for my t6.1 2012 . I am confused about the part in the instructions about cutting wire pin 8 and 9 from the trailer module why and why doesn’t it come prepared so I don’t have to cut wires kit number 19270574PF pj jones

First concern here is hopefully a typo on your part that wiring kit will not work with a 2012 vehicle.

You only cut the he red loop if coding is not possible or the additional features gained from coding the vehicle are not wanted.
Coding the vehicle can achieve features such as
  • Trailer stability program (in ABS)
  • Automatic Parking sensor deactivation whilst towing.
  • C2 (turn signal monitoring) usually via text message or double rate flash.
  • Adaptions to ADAS related systems (front radar mostly)
  • Engine (cooling fan speeds and durations)
It's worth noting that features vary depending on vehicle specifications.

I really do recommend coding the vehicle after you have fitted a vehicle specific towbar wiring kit, the vehicle really does have adaptions waiting to be activated that could prove critical when towing especially in an emergency situation.

If you need any assistance with the coding and you have vcds I can happily talk you through the process.

From the instructions above it doesn't mention CUTTING wires, just disconnecting them.

When I did mine (between towbar prep wiring in D pillar to towbar connector) the instruction were to remove a couple of wires from one connector and put them in a diferent connector. My wiring was from Erich Jaeger though, so may not be the same as PJ Jones wiring.

Sorry I put the wrong vehicle date it’s a 2021

And based on the wiring kit you have your van does not have trailer prep (1D0 on your build label) ?
