It’s on the V5, varies from model to model.Hi, can anyone help please. I'm trying to figure out the towing capacity of my T6. Can it be done from these figures. Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes that's how I read it, but if its a T32, why so low if others have a higher capacity.?I would work it out at gross 3200 train 4900 so 4900 - 3200 = 1700
that's how I read it?
It doesn’t work like that. There’s a maximum vehicle weight & a towing weight. If you add them together, it will invariably be more than the MAM, Maximum Allowed Mass, which is the old Gross Train Weight. This means that you can’t load the van up to the maximum weight of the van e.g. 3200kg, and then hang the maximum weight trailer on the back. This would exceed the MAM. This is worked out by actual weights, not plated weight. The V5 will state the maximum trailer weight and the MAM. You need to know the actual weight of the vehicle, subtract this from the MAM and that is your maximum towing weight, as long as it isn’t higher than the maximum permitted trailer weight.Yes that's how I read it, but if its a T32, why so low if others have a higher capacity.?
Well I looked and couldn't see it, so based on what you said I looked again...... Its down as 2200 Kg for a braked trailer. Thank you. It’s on the V5, varies from model to model.
Thank you mate, so its 2200Kg braked (750 unbraked). But please help me here.... I assume thats for an empty van, once you start loading it up with passengers , dogs, holiday stuff etc, which would be easy enough to weigh at the weigh bridge, how would you calculate the maximum permissible weight of the trailer (or caravan) then??? Or surely couldn't remain the same. So a decent sized caravan, packed with stuff, and a loaded van, I'm just trying to make sure I stay legal. There is no MAM on the V5 - there is Mass in Service of 1797? Many thanks. It doesn’t work like that. There’s a maximum vehicle weight & a towing weight. Your MAM is 4900kg as per your plate. So you need to know the actual weight of your van, subtract that from 4900 and that is your maximum towing weight. Thats super helpful thank you. One last stupid question though, if both our vehicles are T32's, why is your maximum towing weight higher?? Anyway, a good start would be to take my van full of fuel, but empty of everything else to the weigh bridge to get a starting point. Thanks for showing that sheet.Your MAM is 4900kg as per your plate. So you need to know the actual weight of your van, subtract that from 4900 and that is your maximum towing weight. But you can’t exceed 2200kg
This is my cheat sheet, lives in the sunvisor in the van. Note mine is a t32 & max towing weight is 2500 BUT my MAM is 5300kg, NOT 5700kg.

Dunno, mine is a 204 4 mot, what engine do you have? Towing weight is based on the vehicle’s ability to pull away from a standing start up a 12% slope. Engine power & gbox has a bearing on this.Thats super helpful thank you. One last stupid question though, if both our vehicles are T32's, why is your maximum towing weight higher?? Lowly 100 horse (but with a remap although I know thats not in the equation)Dunno, mine is a 204 4 mot, what engine do you have?
See my amended post above ^^^Lowly 100 horse (but with a remap although I know thats not in the equation)![]()

Awesome mateAs said above the calculation is MAM LESS GVW. MAM on my T32 is 5300kg and towing capacity is 2500kg That means a fully laden van can legally tow a 2100kg trailer. I must say I do come close to the limits!
For me it is essential to weigh both Van and trailer / caravan before taking to the road.
I am fortunate to have a set of corner scales so easier for me rather than going to the weigh bridge.
You must ensure that the legal limits are not exceeded otherwise no insurance and worst case the vehicle /trailer could be confiscated by the authorities.
Drive Safe.
