Total Kombi Newbie Here

Hi Guys, complete newbie here just picked up a T6 Kombi Highline , kind of on a whim to use as the new family wagon and i have to say i totally love it - as do the kids!
We are now hoping to eventually turn it into a kind of day van ie bed in the back, possibly a pop top roof (but the idea of having a great big hole cut out the roof kind of scares me from a safety viewpoint)
Im thinking just a decent awning on the side would do the trick for family camping trips etc. (2 in the van 2 in the awning)
My kids are 4 & 6 so still small. Just wondering what peoples view are on using the kombi platfrom as a day van and what are the most important things for me to get done to the van and in what order. I apologise if these questions have been asked many times before i'm totally new to this forum business too!

Cheers

Stick a leisure battery in for a bit of usb charging and some lights. Look at a Kombi bed that sits over the seats when they’re folded flat. Awning rail on the side that you’ll be sleeping in while the wife and the kids are toasty in van. If your pockets are deep enough, a heater to keep the Mrs and kids warm.

Have a look at van king, exploria, amdro and other beds. Or the £99 ikea bed. Then it is just a case of ply lining, upgrade wheels, suspension, sidebars, headlights, mats, door seals, window strip, speakers, stereo, windscreen blinds and some fluffy dice.

Best option is to close this account now - It is an expensive place to spend any time here...
