Total Eclipse 2026

I've always wanted to see a total eclipse. Never managed it, so it's still on the bucket list.

There is one in 2026, that will pass over Spain and Portugal on August 12th. So I'm thinking about driving over.

This got me wondering if any other T6 Forum members would be interested in having a Forum camp / meet to watch it.

Any interest?

Well a week or 2 in Spain at the same time would make it worth the trip .

OK, looks like we have a little bit of interest.

I will do a bit of thinking over the next couple of weeks and maybe put a bit of a plan together?

If interested would people like to travel down as a group? Or just meet up at a particular camp site fora couple of days around the eclipse day?

That’ll be an interesting challenge, 10 vans drive down to Spain see how many actually get there without adblue 650 miles problems

I'm hoping most will be intelligent enough to put in what the van tells them rather than just a random top up or fill it to the brim.

As newbies to continental 'vanning, we'd probably prefer travelling down as a group, but we'd also consider meeting up in Spain.

Great idea. One of the reasons I bought a Transporter 6 weeks ago was to convert and take her indoors to Europe instead of going solo on the gs each year.
I'd be very happy to tag along

The boss is actually quite excited about this. A very good idea @Skyliner33 you may have an additional van in your caravan if I'm not careful hehe

I had a quick look on Wikipedia. Leon in Spain looks fairly central in the area of total eclipse. It will last for 1min 44 sec ( partial eclipse a lot longer.) It will take place about 8:30 pm (with sunset about 9:20 pm)- so quite low on the horizon.

Just be aware that in August in Spain every spaniard and his dog and campervan/motorhome/caravan will be on their 4 week break so campsites will be full and not cheap. If your planing I would call a few sites so you can pre book with numbers. Great idea by the way and fingers crossed for you.
