Toddler Car Seat

Hi I’m picking up my T6 on Friday, a Camper King St Tropez with rock n roll bed and in need of advice on a safe car seat to fit in the back for my 2.5 year old. Any recommendations? Ta muchly.

Does it have ISOFIX, if it does I would go that route.

Can’t give any recommendations,

I have a Halfords one for occasional use with one of the grand children and a nightmare to try and get secure (and don’t feel confident).

I would definitely get a bricks and mortar place to show you how it fixes and it is secure (I did not and thinking I knew better).

So rethinking.

I think I've honestly been through 10 car seats with my 2 kids between the car, van, Grandparents.

Our rock and roll bed didn't have ISOFix when we got it and I went with seatbelt held in seats to start with but they are just a pain in the arse and even though I was fitting right I never felt they were fully secure. Not to the point of worry for the kids safety as such but there was always that niggle.

Ended up buying 2 ISOFix brackets and bolting to the frame of the bed. That might not be crash tested but I can safely say the van would crumple way before the brackets gave out. Now use a joie seat for my 18 month old and my 5 year old is in a ISOFix booster seat.

I would go with Soldas solution if using regulary.

Never felt comfortable with belts - did not realise fitting aftermarket ISOFix was a thing!

I use the wife's car with Isofix when we transport the grand daughter, better for my fuel consumption and van cleanliness..

Are you still able to change your RnB into a bed with the isofix still bolted on, or do you need to remove that each time?

Any chance you can share a link of the one that you bought?

@peteaufc Yeah you can use the bed in place. The only issue is if you have the bed down and kneel directly on the bracket you will know about it. But I have some foam the slips over and we have a duvalay topper for sleeping so you feel nothing.

Its a little tricky to photo but I've tried.

I used https://amzn.eu/d/gh5igSl I tried just as straps first and it did work bit not amazing.

So I took off my bottom seat base. Drilled through the metal frame on the R&R and bolted in with 3 big bolts. As I say the welds on the bed would give way before the bolts did.

If you look on Amazon for ISOFix brackets there are a few types and this worked for me and in a few years I'll be able to unbolt and keep for possible grandkids 😄

Thank you. Yeah I’m wondering about a bracket. Did someone fit that for you or were you able to do it yourself?

I did the mounting. Removed the seat base. Lined everything up and clamped in place. Small metal drill bit to make the pilot holes through the bracket and the bed bar. Then use a stepped bit to slowly drill through. Bolts, washers and some locktight. Take it slow and use some drill oil and you're be golden.
