Thule Backup Storage Box question

This may be a silly question. I have a tailgate bike rack on our T6.1. We also have a Thule BackUp Box 900. Can you open the box up whilst it is on the towbar with the bike rack fitted?

Have you been able to install the Thule backup 900 in the VW origial bike rack?
