Thatcham Cat 5 Recommendations please...

Hi all,

Insurance is calling for a cat 5 tracking device to be fitted - Have any of you had one added and can you recommend one plus fitter in the south Birmingham/ Solihull area please?

I was about to say the same. With the fob/card you always give them a get out if left in the vehicle and/or stored with keys.

I attempted to add my parents Mustang to our fleet policy but was quoted a silly price (around £3.5k) & told to fit one of these at a cost of around £1200, they got it insured with Saga for £250 with no stipulations and not even telling them its garaged, behind gates with monitored CCTV etc.

im booked in for a cat 6 autowatch, on special offer at the moment only £250 fitted plus £140pa monitoring or £400 lifetime monitoring! on par with cobra . Installer in Blackpool

Have you asked what the procedure is if your motor get taken. I know cobra you have to call the police yourself get a crime number etc. Tracker work with the police and do it for you, as police patrol cars have tracker receives installed.
Personally no matter what system you have I would have gone for a cat5, you have to carry a tag but hey ho.

If your van's worth more then 50k you will struggle to find cover without one these days.

What's your experience?
My Nan was with them, totalled her Mini parking it in a ditch on a nasty stormy night. Compleatly her fault and they paid out 2k more than the vehicles where going for on Auto Trader in less than two weeks.
