Tailgate Gas Stuts Keep Popping of Ball joints

I know this seems to be a common problem and there are lots of other posts but I still can't seem to find and answer to my problem. I have a VW bike rack and upgarded the struts to 1200N fro Insuppa. The problem is that they work very well to support the tailgate with the rack, but after a while they keep popping off the ball joints (no particular pattern, top and bottom and and both sides). I am on my 4th pair at this stage. Insuppa have been great and replaced them under warranty each time.

Anyone else any solutions to this problem. I will try a different brand maybe Transpoter HQ? any other recommendations or advice welcome

Try taking the spring clips off and squeezing them a bit to make them a tighter fit.

thanks they look great! although not convinced I need the 2500N. I think the issue might be with the ball joints not the stuts themselves

I use the THQ ones since 8 months and never had a problem. I actually never heard of them popping out.
