Hi all just wanted to get peoples thoughts on this , a couple of weeks ago I picked up my van T6.1 VW transporter 2.0 TDI manual start line , panel van only 3k miles 74 reg bought from main dealer in Liverpool , van number 1 agreed purchase test drove , deposit paid only to called back 3 days later saying the van I was buying had already been sold the day before my deposit was taken , all sort of strange but whatever ! so the manager gets his finger out and finds me another vehicle exactly the same spec etc so alls well sort of I got stuffed for a few hundred more as van 2 has lower miles 5k less to be exact , not a problem really , but hears the problem ! on test drive of van 1 the engine sounded sort of rattly like a loose heat shield or tappets etc but having nothing to compare too agreed to buy thinking this is a normal VW Dub diesel sounding noise , that vans gone and its history anyway so fast forward to van 2 , the test drive on that van sounded exactly the same as van 1 so I just bought it thinking there's nothing at all wrong with either because they must all sound like that , so 500 miles later this van is doing my head in with top end of every gear rattle and cruising down the motorway rattle , every time to put your pedal down there's a faint but always there rattle just like a kid quietly shaking a tambourine , having had 2 vito vans with only 1 issue in 90k miles fixed under warranty and not a squeak from either van I decided to take the T6.1 to my local main dealer , the tech guy came out with me on a road test and said he also hears the problem ! least I wasn't hearing stuff I thought ! the tech guy told me it sounded like the fuel pump and took my van into the garage for about 2 hours to do whatever they do ? probably sit in it and do the crossword ! 2 hours passes out pops my van I ask have you fixed it ? the tech guy says he's got to speak to the tooth fairy at VW support its now been 6 days since they looked at my van and I rang today and was told they have to do some more tests ! but they have been busy sending emails back and forth lol ! the chap on the phone today said my van needed a whole new fuel system and before VW would pay the thousands of pounds for the work they needed to do some more tests ! thousands of pounds of work ! I almost wet my self ! only had 3k miles on the clock when I bought it and it rattled and only just 4k as of today , here's me thinking these vans are bullet proof ! I don't get it how a new van leaves the factory duff , the tech guy did mention a change of fuel pumps from one I've forgot but going back to Bosch as they have had bad batch from the first manufacturer , this is a story that you couldn't make up ! sort of funny and my luck at the moment ! anyways when its sorted im gunna pimp the nuts off this van ! if you her the sound of a tambourine its not Morris dancers ! bye all from the 1 post wonder !
