Hi,
Has anyone converted their T6.1 Highline headlights to a yellow DRL tint? Looking to do it, wondering if its been done before..

I had my BMW headlights rebuilt due to water ingress. The firm that did them did a lot of custom stuff. Yellow DRLs are a popular thing on M cars by all account.

My understanding is that the parking/DRLs are part of the H15 bulb (inner headlight) on the standard T6.1 Highline.
This is how the lights are on my T6.1....

Front Lights

Dipped beam - Outer headlights only - H7 55w

Full beam - Outer and inner Headlights - Outer H7, Inner H15 55/15W

Parking/DRL - inner lights only (less bright) - H15 55/15W

If that is the case with your van, you would need the H15 bulb to somehow have the 15W filament glow yellow, or change the whole light cluster, or have both filaments in the H15 yellow.

Maybe an option with an LED bulb, but that is not legal.

Maybe a better option is to have yellow foglights instead of drl.
Then you could run them yellow all the while or buy switchbacks which give you the option to switch between yellow and white by turning them on and off again .

Judging by the OP's avatar pic, he's got LED headlights, so no need to confuse the issue with talk of halogen bulbs.

I think they are LED lights, I just think yellow DRL's would look great with the Military matt green wrap... Might look into the fog light option though, also might consider either a spray paint along the DRL line on the lens or a yellow warp although both not as nice as changing at light source!

Useless fact. Le French started this yellow front lamp malarkey the the late 1930's. They knew an invasion was likely coming, and wanted to be able distinguish between invading vehicles and the locals before taking pot shots at night. The custom then carried on into the early 90's.

So, the beauty of this mod is you're less likely to get shot by a Frenchman!

Never noticed before, but today I saw a black BMW with yellow DRLs. Never seen one in and around Manchester thought.

If you're on LED lights isn't the DRL the big light bar that swaps to orange to indicate?
