Swap Comfort Dash Gearstick Surround For Standard To Fit Twin Bench Seat?

Hi all, sorry for coming straight in with a question but this looks like the most knowledgable place for T6 upgrades and mods. I have sold my T5 and am looking for a T6, unfortunately the spec I want often comes with the comfort dash, but I need twin front seats and the gearstick surround is in the way, so I can’t just swap seats.

Can you ‘downgrade’ the lower dash panels to standard dash ones, so I can then fit a double front seat? (I know the airbag needs swapping too).

Thanks all

If you’re referring to the gear change lower dash surround, then yes you can swap. I have a standard if you’re after one.
A lot swap out in the opposite direction. Search for modified or comfort dash.
Which airbag are you referring to?

Passenger airbag, it’s different for single seat or double / twin bench seat, apparently.

That’s good to hear though because I don’t want be swapping an entire dashboard, the only issue is that thing being in the way of the middle seat if you fit one which is why you couldn’t specify twin seat with comfort dash.

I have t bought a van yet but I’ll probably be after swaps if I end up with bit that need changing changing. I actually want a panel van but the spec just isn’t available used, so they are all kombi’s I keep finding and I want windows anyway because they look nice and thieves can see it’s an empty van. So I’ll probably modify a Kombi into more of a van.

You would also have to change the carpet.

As Deaky says the carpet is slightly different on a comfort dash vehicle so not sure how the edge of the flooring would end up around the front bottom edge ?
It’s also worth noting that a van with comfort dash has a slightly slimmer plastic wiring tunnel underneath the cab floor where most vans have a slightly thicker one so there’s also the possibility of a slight gap between floor and dash but think it would be minimal and not overly noticeable ?
