Strip light loose connection - shelf above worktop

The van came with LED lighting combinations including a long strip in the shelf above the worktop.
I have determined that where the end connects there is a loose connection but I can't see inside the blob of silicone to understand what I am dealing with.
So I popped out and attempted to take a photo only to have it come apart in my hands.
Two photos below, before and after the separation - what am I looking at please so I can determine how to fix it.

the wires are normally solder to the LED strip.

you will have to pull more of the strip out to get to it an replace or re-solder new wires on.

So in the first photo - you see the normal cable on the left, then the blob changes shape then goes to the LED strip. I need to peel off the blob bit and that is the connection between the two? Like a crimp?

The photos are not clear enough to see 100% but....

The wires are normally soldered to the LED strip on tiny little pads about 2mm across.

I'd imagine that one of the wires has come detached from the LED strip.

So you will need to peel off all the gunk and get back to the two wires and the LED strip and see what's disconnected.

It's all very delicate stuff you have to be very touchy feely with it.

Worst case just peel the whole old strip off throw it in the bin and replace with a new strip that has no wires pre-solded.

LED strip these days is cheap as chips.

I think that would be a better idea. Before I broke it I was intending to fix it. Now a replacement may be a quicker and long term better option.
Thanks @Dellmassive
