Still Confused On Tyres Help Needed

Hi
Right in the forum shop T6 sportline alloys are recommended 255 r5 18 for t32 and 235 50 18 for all other flavours.
Is this down to weight carrying on t32 and if so as I'm not carrying weight can I put 235 50 18s on my T32 as it seems the rims will take both tyres. I can also get several brands esp mitchelin cross latitudes in the 235 size.
The difference in sizing is less than .8 which seems to be ok

The other option is to buy 17 inch steel rims and buy tyres to fit . Does anyone know what size 17 inch tyres I should go for on a 4motion t32
Thanks

I'm no tyre expert but my understanding is that both tyres sizes work on the rims but, with your T32, the main issue is the load index - regardless of how much weight you carry, for a T32 you need at least 103 (875kg) as the maximum permitted axle loading is 1710kg front and 1720kg rear (102 rating at 850kg would fall just short of this).

For info - the tyre sticker on my van (T30) suggests on a 8Jx18 rim a tyre size of "255/45 R18 103T" but choice of available tyres will feed into my decision when I look at switching later this year and I'll probably look at the narrower 235s.

A standard 17" size is 215/60r17. I'm toying with the idea of putting my 17" VW Design wheels up for sale if your interested. They have the factory fit Continental van contact 200 on, so load rated for a T32 (not the winter tyres shown in the picture)

Ok. I'll take some close up pics of wheels and tyres and PM you. Possibly be able to get them to Norwich area at end of next week if you decide they're for you?
