Squeeking roof

Hi,

I have an annoying squeek which I think is coming from where the poptop roof rubber seal is pressing against the awning bracket. I was thinking of putting some grease on it to see if that stops the noise. I read silicon grease is OK for rubber. Can anyone confirm this, or have any other suggestions for stopping the noise?

Thanks

Why not use some foam on the awning rail so its not sitting against the fibre glass?

Silicone based lubricant OK for rubber, and was recommended by my poptop supplier. Coincidentally I’m about to fit my awning brackets this evening, and I will give them a wipe with some silicone when it’s all done.

This could depend on how the awning bracket has been fitted. If rivnuts have been used it is down to the installer where the bracket is fitted on the shoulder of the van.

If it’s sat high and rubbing too much you can shave some of the fibreglass away on the roof to cut round the bracket, puts it under a bit less strain and might subside your noise without repeat grease being applied

That's a great idea. I think I'll try this first and see if it works.

This sounds like a good idea. I'll have a closer look later and see how easy that would be.

Thank you all for the great advice.
