Hi,
When I bought my Calif, the salesperson told me that the brakes might squeal from time to time.
That’s actually the case, and it happens randomly—well, mostly after a few braking maneuvers and not at very low speeds.
I went to see my mechanic (whom I trust completely; he gives good advice), and he told me that this happens depending on the type of brake pad material.
Other than replacing the pads, there isn’t much else to do.
My questions:
- Is this a sign that the pads are worn out?
- What long-term impact could this squealing have? I’m not talking about my patience! Haha!
- The vehicle is supposed to indicate pad wear on the OBD, is that correct? I don’t have any warning lights on
- Is changing the brake pads (only) a complicated procedure? I’ve done it before on my Citroen Berlingo
- Is running a VCDS scan after changing the brake pads mandatory?
- Which brake pad manufacturer should I choose—or, more importantly, avoid?
Thanks for your answers!
