Solarplexius window tints

I fitted one. Easy to fit, has stayed put for 2 years, doesn’t rattle or vibrate (something I was worried about) and no issues with rear window heater. It is also very difficult to see through from the outside so great for privacy but fine looking out. However, it is not a colour match for the black limo tint I have on the side windows as it has a slight silver tint rather than pure black. I’ll post a pic later.

Appreciate the reply... can you send a pick from inside too?
Cheers

I had them on the side windows and rear tailgate window and they worked fine but ultimately I had them replaced with window tint by @harveyj09 of this parish as I didn’t like the aesthetics of the retaining blocks. Costs are similar but the window film is much nicer and I had a sun strip at the same time. In fact he did such a good job and I liked it so much I got the missus beemer done as well

I fitted a Solarplexius panel to the tailgate window of my LWB T6.1 camper last year. It was quick and simple as far as I was concerned, and have never had any problems since fitting. The company was very switched on and easy to deal with. The tint matched the SGI-made side windows perfectly.

It was a bonus to discover that, when camping in the winter months, there was virtually no condensation on the inside of the rear window after the panel was fitted.

I really wanna get my driver and passenger door windows tinted plus a sun strip but I'm guessing there isn't a bolt on/diy option for that ha!

Anyone had any experience with Solarplexius window tints?

Looking at the rear window tailgate
Is there a particular reason you’d pick this over traditional window tint? I did thank about becoming a supplier of this many years ago but never went any further. If you fancy a drive to Doncaster I can tint it while you wait or go for a wander.

If you’re handy anything is possible, buy a roll of film and have a go, I don’t mind giving advice. Or I could do it for you at a reasonable price.

I do like a reasonable price. Might have to hit you up for a quote come payday.

I consider myself handy but I've let myself down a lot with my finishes on the van of late. I could do with a win

There's some repairs to the rear defroster that are a bit uneaven which I think would make it difficult to get a good finish over with film and don't want to damage any more so though this looked like a decent alternative

Yeah sounds like a good idea if the element is damaged.

Sorry, haven’t got one from inside. I’ll take one tomorrow.
Was your tailgate glass factory tinted or clear?

I have factory tinted / heated but want something slightly darker for increased security. If you hold a torch up to the factory glass you can see everything in the rear.

I was initially thinking to get a limo tint added but was concerned there may be issues as the glass has heating elements.

I had never heard of this stuff before, how does it fit?

I think it was aftermarket and fitted when the van was converted. The rear screen was not tinted hence adding the tint for security and privacy. I considered a tint film but was also concerned about how well it would go with the heating elements. All the ones I’ve seen in the past seem to fit poorly over the raised element and look a bit rubbish. The Solarplexius is simple to fit. It has little plastic clips that slide between the glass and metal frame and stick to the Solarplexius panel. They are quite small so not particularly obvious.

I fitted a Solarplexius panel to the tailgate of my camper as it was factory original and didn’t match the other windows (SGIs) which had a 10% tint. The panel was easy to fit (just 6 screws) and now matches the tint of the other windows. As a bonus I found the panel minimises condensation on the inside when it’s cold.

Be good to see some pictures of the inside to understand the shade. I have seen pictures of the older ones and it looks red from the inside. Just wondered how it looks and how the clips look etc. Many Thanks!

I’m not with my van at the moment and I don’t have any decent photos from inside unfortunately. I do have this one just about showing one of the wedges/clips:

They are about 20mm long and about 5mm shows once installed between the screen and the metal window frame. The fittings may be different for vans with original windows with trim around them as someone earlier mentioned screws.

The clips don’t really show on mine as they are in the area with the black border on the glass and also generally hidden behind the curtains and midge net.

The tint is grey and fractionally lighter than my limo tint side windows.
