Solar Panel Wiring Cover.

Hi.

So, I am trying to figure out what to call the thing I am looking to either get or make or something. We have a solar panel on our campervan. Unfortunately, there are wires sticking out of the roof which normally wouldn't bother me but I want to go to safari parks.
We have had previous experience where monkeys basically ate our car aerial so my husband has put his foot down and said no safari parks as we can't avoid monkeys.

I love safari parks so am looking for solutions. Anybody got any suggestions for a cover for the solar panel cables??

Thank you in advance for any advice. (sorry, brain is a bit frazzled today so I am aware that it is a bit of a chore to read).

Temporary solution?

Masking tape a piece of black bag over the cable and box just for the day,/Trip.

Though I think that may be a generic excuse to not take the van into those monkey cages..... they will rip the van to bits.... I'd be the same..

"No darling... let's take the car instead" =)

Thank you for your reply.

I was hoping for a more permanent solution as we visit a lot of safari park type places when we are away so only have the option of using the van.

i am not sure whether some form of box screwed into place would work??

We spoke to AJC as they had shown a solar panel without the wires visible and asked if they could do this for us. They can't as we have an austops roof which is rippled.
:(

Haha! Wouldn’t take my van, I’d hire a car and let them eat that! :p

You could have that panel removed and replaced with a panel that has rear cable exit.

That way there will be no exposed cable.

Sorry but I'm with hubby.... we watched a Citroen get ripped to pieces in a safari park. The monkeys seemed to be in a state of frenzy, highly agitated. they were beyond angry.
They started with the aerial, then the entire windscreen seal insert (that holds the windscreen in place), wheel trims, plastic body parts, side indicators, plastic wheel arch inserts, wipers, towbar electrics ripped out, and the front valance was hanging off on one side. They were not inquisitively dismantling it to see how it was made, they were attacking it.
I worry about the risk to the animals, we're animal lovers (WWF members, NT members, actively involved with rescues) but there is no way on earth I'd take the van into a Safari park, I'd rather watch them get on with their restricted lives from a distance they are comfortable with :)

I love watching them but I suspect the little b’stards will have the panel off as well if you give them half a chance. Why bother with a little plastic box when you can wreck the whole thing instead?
