Smoke alarm positions

Hi, smoke alarms… just bought one, never had one in my old van but I know the ideal place is central ceiling position, possibly in the pop top but was wondering where we all have fitted yours…

I sleep on the cali seat bed so mine is above my head just inside the tailgate.
I suggest you intentionally create some smoke in your van and see where it gathers.

The smoke alarm in my camper was fitted by the converter on the kitchen side above the worktop on the underside of the top shelf, but well away from the hob. A high location seems preferable for a smoke alarm but fitting one in the centre of the pop-top roof probably isn’t sensible as it’ll be vulnerable to damage.
