Sliding Door Fixed!

After a week of intermittent faults such as the sliding door showing as open when definitely shut, alarm going off and door not unlocking, I was super frustrated. Not wanting to just splash the cash for a new locking mechanism, I had a good nose around the forum and low and behold after awhile searching I found a fix (so far so good...). The copper contacts on the door frame were given a good clean up with scotchbrite and hey presto it seems to be good as gold.

My wife and I were planning a trip away at the end of this week which looked sketchy if the side door wasn't playing ball. It's now looking like it's back on.

I would just like to thank the collective for all of the advice, comments and experience that is given freely on this forum. Moreover, the respectful way in which members post and respond to questions even if they seem simple or banal. I have been a member of other vehicle forums which descend into nastiness so quickly.

Thankfully

Glad you found a fix.

The door contacts are the first place to check.

Need check mine as door hard to open when unlocked but works normal if I close and open again

Fibreglass pen is a bit more gentle and does the job.
Cleaning once / year and you shouldn’t have any issues, don’t forget the mating female contacts.
