single USB ?

I have the single USB on my kombi dash with media control-app connect etc…

my vw car-stick is usual plugged into it for a wifi hotspot and car-net but I have to remove it to plug my phone In for a wired connection for my music (better quality than Bluetooth) I have tried a Y cable splitter but it will only let me stream data on one lead and charge with the other, not both at once, so no good really.

Is my only option to fit anther vw USB socket like the POSH T6s have to allow twin data to the head unit?

I am interested to now how you guys run phone/music/data in your vans ?

Could you use a proper pc type usb Hub ?
Can you use your Phone as a WiFi hotspot ?
I don’t have the VW head unit so can’t really help as mine uses Apple car play or android auto.

I have looked at these and the comfort dash with twin usb sockets has one data line to each USB outlet (4 core cable = power pair and data pair) but if you only have one USB outlet on a standard dash both data lines go to this socket (6 cores = power pair and data A pair and data B pair) so it seems logical you could have full functionality of two pieces of equipment ?

All the Y cables i have looked at with twin USB female sockets say one data one charge only, maybe if i could find the right Y lead with twin data leads it would work, if they exist ?
when i ordered the kombi i selected every connectivity option there was in the extras so all the wiring should be there ?

I have try a pc muiti USB hub but had the same result
I could use my phone as a wifi hotspot but i do not carry much data on my contract as it is on wifi 99% of the time. I have found that the car-stick was much better that my phone when it came to a data connection ?

Looks like you have tried the obvious work rounds. Nothing seems obvious with VW though

I have a single USB in my comfort dash but there is a blanking plate in the centre console bit, just above the 12v socket. If I was to fit a USB socket into the blank would I be able to get power from the 12v socket? I would only want this to work for charging as I have the data USB in the glove box.
