Should I keep & upgrade or sell?
Startline 102bhp 135k miles
DMF, clutch, EGR flush, new pipe, EGR cooler, alternator free wheel, cam & water pump all replaced.

Comprehensive service records.
Sell or upgrade with aircon & swap front twin bench for single captains passenger seat.

Depends on how much you really want A/C. Swapping the bench with single is easy

Thank you…if I keep I know the cost circa £2.8k for aircon, chair £1k supply & fit. Or should I buy a newer one already done & with single front seats? I’m thinking mine is circa £32k & then I would have up to £40k for a new one.

If it was solely for AC and single seat, Id just add to the one you have. At least you know the history of yours and the big jobs have been done.

If you generally just fancy a change, then sell it

That’s exactly how I feel. But I know this forum has excellent knowledge & I’ve been a member for a number of years.
My concern is I swap & end up in the same cycle of replacing the “big ticket” items!

Thats what I was was thinking. It seems an odd time to sell after youve forked out for this cycle of spending.

If aircon is your thing the a new van would deliver that, but that's a very expensive method of getting AC.

I think neither logic or the sums justify a change. However, if you simply fancy a new van then absolutely go for it, and take the opportunity to tick all your spec boxes while you're at it and hang the expense. No pockets in a shroud.

I’ve not included the full spec…but I’ve seen older similar vehicles offered higher…so we’ll see if I do decide to put “Minty” up for sale.
Thank you for taking the time to offer your opinion.

If those upgrades make your van your perfect van then I’d go for them. They will also make it more desirable when you sell it but won’t recoup their cost by a long way. If you have a budget of £40k though that should get you a 2-3 year newer converted van with about 30k miles, 150bhp, aircon, captains seat etc so maybe a change is worth seriously looking at. You’ll only know what yours is actually worth when you sell it as the market is flooded at the moment and most asking prices are seriously inflated. I’ve watched a Transporter drop £10k on the forecourt of a local garage in the 4-5 months or so it’s sat there.

I’d keep and upgrade “better the devil you know” or you may end up in a world of pain.
I concur with this statement!!

With regards AC - there are several routes to retrofit it, buying a 'donor' kit from another T6, breakers like Transporter Heaven often have full kits:- VW T6 Transporter 2016-2020 2.0 TDI Euro 6, Complete Genuine A/C Conversion Kit – Transporter Heaven

Obviously you'd need some fairly serious skills to complete the install, but it HAS been done before (threads on here proving it!)

Like HERE

Then of course you can go down the aftermarket retrofit AC route, Alpinair are regularly mentioned on here and come with good reviews.

Up to you ultimately!!

I’m planning to go via the Alpinair route as they’ve already quoted.

All these replies are what makes this forum so good. Balanced & honest opinions…either when you post a new thread or simply explore other topics, especially when you’re trouble shooting.
