Seat Query - anyone help

hi this might seem like a strange question. i have a captains passenger seat that seems to have the back recliner knob on opposite side i would expect - its on the window side. To allow me to fit new plastics does anyone know how or if the mechanism can be removed and reversed? as far as i know its a genuine seat - as the seat height adjuster is on correct side. ta
