Hi,

New to the forum and VWs, looking at purchasing first base vehicle for a conversion.

Looking at 2017 T6 with 150,000 miles at £11k. One owner, with service history, but not sure about rust in various places. Attached pics of various uncertainties. Would really appreciate any thoughts, advice & guidance from you experts... Thanks very much!

Cheers.

All exhausts rust.
The striker plates for the rear doors can be replaced.
The rust around the floor lashing points can be diy treated if you intend to put a ply floor down-doesn’t have to be pretty.
The roof and door need to be repaired properly at a body shop if you ask me, but they can remove that lock and plate and fill the hole at the same time.
Considering the price, a few hundred quid at a body shop and a bit of diy doesn’t seem too bad.
Exhaust gets replaced when it starts blowing.

it looks like the majority of the rust is in places where the paint has been damaged. the exhaust is rusty but nothing unusual for the age of the vehicle and will likely last many more years before it rusts through.

Thanks for everyone's responses. As mentioned, new to the forum and first time posting. Amazed by the response level. It's great and very much appreciated, thank you!

My concern is basically spending 10-15k on a conversion for a which costs similar/less. Naturally anxious about that!

Have you looked at a converted one for approx £25k instead then? I know it's not your personal build but worth a look. There's always some on here. @T6ChrisO is selling his, some work already done to it.

Thank you, will take a look 👍

Looked at converted but never quite what we're looking for in terms of layout etc. We're still learning and clearly need to compromise. This looks a great quality option with still the potential to customise, so thank you for sharing.
